All of our ponies are very carefully selected and go through an intense training programme, before they can be accepted as an RDA pony.

Even when accepted we continue with their training.
Our ponies are kind, have a good temperament, are quiet and reliable.
Our staff make sure all the horses are kept fit doing a wide range of activities when they are not doing RDA, this also gives them variety in their work, enabling them to stay focused during sessions.

In the holidays the ponies go out having fun and competing at local shows, Including show jumping and dressage

Some take part in gymkhana games and some might be lucky enough to go to the beach.

Our Ponies

BenBen

11.3hh black Dartmoor cross gelding, born 1993. Joined the Magpie Centre in 2004 was gifted to us. Ben is our very own miniature black beauty, loved by all who meet him. A natural in the show ring being placed every time out in 2004.

Ben loves jumping when he’s not doing RDA.  His favourite food is carrots.  He loves his riders and all of our helpers who bring him polo’s but he is having a constant battle to reduce his waistline.

Bob the CobBob the Cob

16 years old stunning black gelding, standing at 15.1hh.

He joined the team in September 2006. Bob is a driving horse.

He is incredibly laid back, never hurries anywhere, even in the carriage.  Loves everybody and has a great personality.

DominoDomino

15.1hh Piebald cob gelding, born 1989.

Domino has fulfilled his role at The Magpie Centre as the only RDA Driving horse in Norfolk, he is incredibly laid back and takes life in his stride.

FlakeFlake

13.2hh Light chestnut gelding, born 1982. Joined us in 2001, kindly gifted by a local family that had sadly outgrown him. In his younger days he was in harness pulling a wedding carriage and competed in France & Germany driving.

Flake is now semi retired but still loves to attend a few sessions a week.   If he didn’t come in he would miss the children and the helpers especially the ones that bring  him apples.

FreddieFreddie

10 year old   piebald gelding, standing at 15.3hh
He was gifted to us in October 2005.  Fred is our very own gentle giant. He oozes character, and is a true gentleman.

In his spare time loves to go out jumping and having lots of fun.

HarryHarry ( Currently in training for RDA)

He is 15hh a very striking tri-coloured gelding, at only 6 years old we think Harry is one for the future, he is owned by the centre and is in training with a view to start RDA shortly.

He has a very laid back personality, good rhythmical, steady paces, and a great temperament.

HeidiHeidi

12.2hh dark bay Exmoor cross mare, born 1984.

Lovely nature, likes to test out new helpers awareness!!!
Incredibly reliable, very steady always willing. Knows how to let her hair down!

MillyMilly (Currently in training for RDA)

12 hands grey mare, 7 years old, very cute and cuddly; another new arrival.  She is about to start her training.

Milly has a lovely floating action and is very comfy to ride, also owned by the centre, doesn’t tend to stay grey for very long she wishes she was a bay like Heidi.

NumbaNumba

A 6 year old grey  Camargue mare standing at about 14hh. She made an incredible journey from France to join our centre. She was gifted to us by the SLL Charity headed by Jakki Cunningham.

After intense training Numba is now being used in our riding sessions and enjoying her work.  She is a real asset to our team.
